Hi, I am building a model of the deben 5 tonner in a 1:10 scale. I am struggling a bit with the deck. What is the crown height for the deck?

The decks (foredeck, sidedecks & aft deck are all 7% crop (camber).

The coachroof top is 9% crop (camber).

There is an explanation of how to set out beam cambers at:

It is the classic graphical way that boatbuilders set out beam cambers.

This is the RealCADD manual actually (which I wrote and host) – but it's there because of a script to create beamcambers in the CAD program.

If you are still have trouble, I'd be happy to explain a bit more!

Dear George
Thank you for your reply, I was about to make the beams at 4.2% camber, I ll change this to 7%.

I have been working on the Deben for almost 2 years now, it is a complex but very enjoyable boat to build. The scale is large at 1:10 and so far I have finished the hull and I am about to start the deck.
I am designing the whole boat on 3D as I go as my hand drawing skills are non existent. The main problems have been the sternpost which is seriously complex and the Transom. I missed the part that advises to make the transom oversized (maybe there is an issue with the plans aswell?) and the edges are now flush with the sheer. I will need to improvise a solution there.

I am posting my progress on a log on model ship world forum, you are very welcome to visit on:

You may need to register to see the photos but it is very easy.

Kind regards
