Hi Phillipe

As I said in my email, I'm very glad that you have bought Deben Honour and are going to restore her.

Deben Honour was built by Whisstocks in 1951 and was chosen to represent the boatbuilding industry at the Festival of Britain in 1951.

She is one of about 40 Deben 4-Tonners, which the yard built starting in 1936. The design was commissiond by my father from the English designer Maxwell Blake. He also designed Mirelle which we built in 1937 – she is still going strong on the river Deben, So are many of the 4-Tonners.

I have nearly finished recreating the original Construction Plan and the two Sail Plans (Gaff and Bermudian), from the original 1936 tracings which are now too delicate and britle to take a print from. So these will be available soon. They should be useful to you if you have much structural work to do. My father did make some changes from the original drawings. I think he added an extra plank to the topsides to give more freeboard. And on some boats (like Deben Honour) there was a full width coachroof (no side decks).

I would be happy to be of help.
