a while back you mentioned you were modeling 160. Will this be available for us to view?

Yes it will be available.

I am collaborating with a colleague in Turkey for the modeling side of the design process and at the moment he is taking a break for renovations to his family home.

To date most of the modeling process has been to model each item of structure from the actual CNC cutting drawings that I produce and load them into the 3D model of the hull, deck and superstructure which is a direct download from the naval architecture program.

In this way we can identify the accuracy with which the components fit into the hull shape and correct any errors. And we are building our virtual boat from the real components as drawn.

At the same time, from the modeled components, we can calculate the volume, mass and centre of gravity of each item and so build up an accurate weight and CoG estimate.

I can publish some of these models on the 160 website page so that anyone interested can see where we are currently and how we got there – I will do that over the next few days.
