Where is the ballast located on this design?

The fixed external ballast is in the ballast keel, weight 217kg (478 lbs).

You can also instal 100kg (220 lbs) of internal ballast if you wish, if you expect to be sailing in heavier conditions for example.

For lighter airs, lake, river and estuary sailing the normal fixed ballast is generally fine. For very large lakes (like the Great Lakes), coastal cruising and offshore, I would instal the additional ballast.

The internal ballast is generally four 25 kg pigs of lead installed two each side of the centrecase. They must be on a foundation (usually epoxy/microballons), not directly on the hull. And they must be secured by straps or timber so that they can't dislodge in rough weather or in the case of a knockdown.
