Hi i have just picked up a 1/4 tonner Waarschip and all the sails etc tell me its a 470 ? she is 7.22 metres with a draft of 1.12 gross tonage 2.88. She is in a very sorry state having been sitting on her trailer for 10 years ! she was originally named Basque O'Connor then changed to Doctor Robert ! Does anyone know what model she is ? are there any plans and building specs ? is it worth doing the work ? she needs new decks and coachroof, the hul appears to be sound and has a lovely keel. photos are available if it helps. Thank you in advance

We built a couple of Waarschip 660's in the early 80's, but that's all.

Waarschip are still building as far as I know. Their address is

Waarschip Werf
Visserijweg 2
9936 HB Farmsum DELFZIJL
Netherlands
Tel: 0596-632 672
Email: info@waarschip.com
Web: http://www.waarschip.com

I'm sure they would help you identify the boat etc. They still have a 'home-build' section I think.

Best of luck - George Whisstock

Dear justplanesailing,

I have just happened upon your post of May 2009 !
Are you still interested— indeed— alive?!
I can tell you all about this Waarschip, my pride and joy for 13 years in the 1970s/80s. It's sad to hear she is in such a state.
Her J.O.G Number was 470. Built by Awson Marine at Boscombe in 1972.
Would love to hear from you.
